What a law firm website costs in 2026

A law firm website costs between €990 excl. VAT for a ready-to-wear site online in a week and €15,000 excl. VAT for a bespoke multilingual site with practice-area pages and partner profiles. Most French firms land between €3,500 and €8,000 excl. VAT.

Here is what actually moves the figure, what a quote should contain, and how to read two proposals that are not pricing the same thing.

The ranges, plainly

Type of sitePrice excl. VATLead timeWho for
Ready-to-wear (design drawn for the profession)€9901 weekSole practitioner, new firm
Bespoke, one language, 5 to 8 templates€3,500 to €8,0006 to 10 weeksFirm of 2 to 15 lawyers
Bespoke, multilingual, many practice areas€8,000 to €15,0003 to 4 monthsBusiness firm, several offices
Redesign carrying search rankings over€4,000 to €12,0002 to 3 monthsFirm whose site already gets traffic

These ranges are indicative and hold for the French market in the second half of 2026. Real pricing follows your brief, never a grid.

What really drives the price up

A firm’s website price almost never depends on the number of pages. It depends on five things:

  • The number of templates. A practice-area page and a partner page are two templates to draw, then to build. Thirty pages on four templates cost less than ten pages on eight templates.
  • Languages. A second language adds translation, but above all the technical structure that tells Google which version to show to whom. It is the most underestimated line.
  • Content. A firm that supplies its own text pays for the website. A firm that asks for the text to be written pays for the website and for editorial work, which is a real craft when the subject is law.
  • Features. Appointment booking, a client area, a document library, an internal search engine: each is priced separately.
  • Identity. If the firm has no visual identity, it has to be created before the site can be drawn. That is a project of its own, not a line in the web quote.

What a serious quote always contains

  • the number of templates and the list of pages,
  • who writes the text, and how many rounds of review are included,
  • the search foundation included: structure, speed, metadata, structured data,
  • the profession’s required notices and GDPR compliance,
  • hosting, domain name and maintenance, with their yearly cost,
  • what belongs to you at the end, and in what form.

A quote that does not say who writes the text is an incomplete quote. It is the line that derails half of all law firm website projects.

Ready-to-wear or bespoke?

The question is not the budget, it is what the website has to produce. A lawyer setting up needs to exist online quickly, cleanly, with the profession’s notices in place: a ready-to-wear law firm website at €990 excl. VAT does exactly that, and the twenty-eight examples in the catalogue can be viewed with your own name before you pay.

A firm chasing specific work, in a competitive practice area, in several languages and with a brand to defend, needs a bespoke site. Both are good choices. The bad choice is bespoke bought for prestige and never fed.

And search, in all this

A firm website that brings in no enquiries costs more than an expensive one that does. The technical and editorial foundation has to be included from the design stage: one page per practice area, written for the questions clients actually ask, a Google profile kept up to date, and a structure that Google and the answer engines can read. The detail is in our article on SEO for a law firm.

Frequently asked questions

Can a lawyer build their own website?

Yes, and some do it well. The real cost is then the time spent, plus the risk on two points website builders do not handle on their own: the profession’s required notices and the structure that makes the site findable. A design drawn for the profession settles both at a fixed price.

Why can two quotes differ threefold?

Because they are not pricing the same thing. Compare the number of templates, who writes the text, what is included for search, and what you own at the end. At equal scope, the gaps narrow a great deal.

Should I pay a monthly subscription?

A subscription spreads the cost, but check what it covers and what you keep if you leave. At BLACKT a ready-to-wear website is €990 excl. VAT in one go or €99 excl. VAT a month for twelve months, and the site is yours either way.

How much does maintaining a firm’s website cost?

Between €40 and €150 excl. VAT a month for updates, backups, security and uptime monitoring. It is the line that saves you rebuilding the site every three years.
