GEO AGENCY:
CITED
BY AI

BLACKT is a GEO agency in Paris: we make sure ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews name your company when someone asks them about your line of work. GEO (generative engine optimisation), also called AIO, extends SEO: the same technical foundations, with new rules for writing and for proof.

WHAT WE PUT IN PLACE

01

Clear entities

Your company, your services, your leadership and your area named the same way everywhere: on the site, in Google Business Profile, in directories and in structured data. An AI engine only cites what it can identify without hesitation.

02

Direct answers

Every page answers its question in its first two sentences, then goes into detail. That is the shape answer engines know how to extract and rephrase.

03

Verifiable facts

Prices, lead times, figures, dates, named case studies: AI engines favour what they can cross-check. An agency that publishes its prices gets cited before one that only says "on request".

04

Readable structure

Schema.org markup (Organization, Service, FAQPage), FAQs, lists, tables, an llms.txt file: a site that machines read as well as people do.

THE METHOD, IN FOUR STEPS

01

Citation audit

We put the twenty to thirty questions your clients ask to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google, and record who gets cited instead of you, and why.

02

Foundations

Entities, structured data, Google Business Profile, llms.txt, AI crawlers allowed in: we fix whatever stops machines from reading you.

03

Content that answers

Key pages rewritten as direct answers, missing proof added (prices, figures, client cases), FAQs drawn from real questions.

04

Third-party sources and measurement

A presence in the directories, rankings and media AI engines consult, then the questions tested again every month to count the citations won.

WHAT AI ENGINES CITE

A growing share of searches no longer goes through a list of links but through a written answer. Ranking on page one is no longer enough: you have to be the source the answer quotes. We measured it on 1 October 2026 with two buying questions put to Perplexity in French, "which web agency for a law firm in Paris?" and "which agency should build my restaurant's website in Paris?". Each answer cites nine or ten agencies. Every one of them is described by a clear specialism, and nearly half by a price. Agencies with no stated specialism do not appear.

GEO, AIO, AEO: ONE DISCIPLINE

Three acronyms are in circulation for a single discipline, and none of them describes a different technique. What matters is not the name: it is being the source the answer quotes. Flip the cards for the detail.

GEOGenerative engine optimisation

GEO : optimising a site for engines that write an answer instead of showing ten links: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot. It is the most widely used term in France.

AIOAI optimisation

AIO : the same work seen from Google's side: appearing in AI Overviews, the generated summary at the top of the results, and in the engine's AI Mode.

AEOAnswer engine optimisation

AEO : the term favoured in English-speaking markets, focused on answer engines and voice assistants. The acronym also names a customs certification, which makes it ambiguous in search.

FAQ.

What is the difference between GEO, AIO and AEO?

None in substance: all three mean optimising a site to be cited by engines that write answers. GEO is the most common term in France, AIO refers to Google's AI Overviews, AEO is the usual term in English-speaking markets.

Does GEO replace SEO?

No, it extends it: without sound SEO foundations there is nothing to cite. Answer engines draw heavily on pages that already rank well. We always work on both together.

How long does it take to be cited by ChatGPT?

Rarely a few weeks, usually several months. Answer engines rely on indexes that refresh in waves and on third-party sources that take time to build. The precise questions of your trade are won before the contested queries.

How do I know whether an AI engine cites my company?

By asking it your clients' questions, regularly and across several engines, and noting who gets cited. That is our citation audit, then our monthly tracking, backed by large-scale citation data from Ahrefs.

Should I block AI crawlers?

Not if you want to be cited: GPTBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended must be able to read your pages. A robots.txt file or a firewall sometimes blocks them without anyone knowing, so we check it in the audit.

What content do AI engines cite?

Content that is structured, dated, sourced and attributable to a clear entity. A page of vague opinions will never be cited; a page that answers with facts will.

Can a GEO agency guarantee a citation?

No, and be wary of anyone who promises it: nobody controls what an AI engine answers. What we can do is put in place the conditions that make it likely, and measure every month what has been won.
